Senior Manager Advisory Associate - JP Morgan - London - 8 months contract - PAYE - ONSITE

We are seeking a Senior Manager Advisory Associate to join JP Morgan in London on an initial 8 months contract. We are preferably seeking candidates with experience of the UK Senior Managers Regime (SMR) among other regulatory compliance experience.

Background

The EMEA Regional Governance & Controls team is responsible for overseeing the cross-Line of Business (x-LOB) and Corporate Function governance framework, as well as management of the firms Senior Management Certification Regime framework.

Our Senior Manager Advisory SMEs support the UK & Ireland Senior Manager population in fulfilling regional and regulatory obligations. More broadly the team consists of governance SMEs, location control managers, and legal entity risk and control SMEs.

The team are strategic partners to the business, collaborating with leaders across the firm, including within lines of business such as Commercial and Investment Bank, Private Bank, Asset Management, International Consumer Bank, and functions like Technology, Human Resources, Operations, Finance, and Compliance.

Position Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive view of the firm's regional business while contributing significantly to enhancing the firm's governance and controls agenda.

The candidate will be responsible for part of the region's Individual Accountability Regime (IAR) framework and operating model, ensuring efficient execution and seamless support for the region's most senior executives. The role requires substantial engagement with regional senior management and governance leads to agree Senior Manager Function (SMF)/ Senior Executive Accountability Regime Pre-Approval Controlled Functions (SEAR PCF) coverage for our businesses and functions, to prepare and submit applications and maintain regulatory documentation relevant to those positions, and to oversee regulatory initiatives impacting the Firm's implementation of the UK Senior Managers Regime (SMR), and equivalent ex-UK regimes, notably the SEAR in Ireland.

The successful candidate will drive a significant change agenda, enhancing efficiencies and synergy across Lines of Business and Functions within the EMEA team. The goal is to establish a consistent yet flexible, holistic approach to meeting senior manager regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical and practical advice to senior management and stakeholders on SMR and Ireland Individual Accountability Regime requirements, including interpretation and applicability to roles and activities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and external regulators on SMR-related queries, issues and regulatory engagement.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal teams and external parties to enable clear communication, coordinated implementation and timely resolution of SMR matters.
  • Own and continuously improve the UK SMR and Ireland Individual Accountability Regime operating frameworks, ensuring fit-for-purpose implementation and alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Develop, deliver and maintain regular training and guidance for the Senior Management population and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure key regulatory documentation (statements of responsibility, role maps, operating procedures and related records) is current, consistent across the SMF population and compliant with governance standards.
  • Review and enhance core controls and associated processes to secure robust execution of the Senior Manager Framework and to identify opportunities for quality, efficiency and governance improvements.

What You Bring

  • Substantial experience in financial services, preferably with direct exposure to the UK Senior Managers Regime (SMR) or related accountability frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance obligations relevant to SMR and senior manager accountability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with proven experience influencing and building relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with strong time-management and multitasking abilities; assesses situations quickly and works effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a controls-focused approach to producing accurate, professional work.
  • Proactive self-starter and collaborative team player who takes personal accountability and works independently when required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
