SC-Cleared Data & AI Architecture Consultant (Data Architect)

Responsibilities

As a Data & AI Architecture Consultant (Data Architect), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our clients’ data and AI strategies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing & Implementing Data Solutions:

    • Developing enterprise Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models, adhering to national (e.g., UK Government Data Standards) and international (e.g., ISO, NATO) standards.
    • Leading and delivering Data and AI Strategies in complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Transforming Data Landscapes:

    • Analysing existing Data Architecture landscapes and defining future-state data strategies.
    • Providing enterprise Data & AI Strategy leadership, ensuring systems are reliable, scalable, highly available, and maintainable.
    • Introducing best practices to accelerate technology delivery.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Mentoring junior Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Modellers, and AI Engineers.
    • Laying groundwork for Data Architecture tools, platforms, operations, and security.
    • Leading Data Proof of Concepts, pilots, and experiments.
  • Data Governance & Compliance:

    • Managing Data Governance activities, including policy development and compliance adherence.
    • Acting as the escalation point for Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Protection/Compliance issues.
    • Enhancing Data Maturity and Data Quality with business leaders.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Aligning data design across business units and geographies.
    • Coordinating cross-functional teams, partners, stakeholders, and external vendors.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Security Clearance: Must hold an SC-level clearance.

  • Technical & Architectural Expertise:

    • Hands-on experience with Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or related consulting roles.
    • Data modelling and design in complex organisations.
    • Expertise in Data Lake, Lakehouse, and Data Mesh architectures.
    • Understanding of Observability and FinOps (Financial Operations).
    • Developing data models (e.g., dimensional, combinational, data vault) for reporting and decision-making.
    • Managing data pipelines for various business needs, including transformations from source systems to end-users.
  • Data Management & Governance:

    • Setting up Data Ontology (Data Catalogue, Data Dictionary, Data Lineage).
    • Developing data frameworks, including lifecycle management (capture, transform, deliver).
    • Governance policies, standards, compliance, and regulations (e.g., GDPR).
    • Vendor tool proficiency (Collibra, Informatica).
  • Business & Leadership:

    • Experience configuring common data structures and business intelligence solutions.
    • Managing load and refresh processes (e.g., batch, mini-batch, stream).
    • Cognitive architecture of governance and data quality principles.
  • Technical Depth & Certifications:

    • Strength in SQL databases, familiarity with NoSQL and columnar databases.
    • SQL vs. predictive analytics, data visualization techniques, machine learning foundations.
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and emerging technologies.
  • Presentational Skills:

    • Ability to convey clear and coherent ideas to executives, and form strong client relations.
    • Comfortable with on-demand proposals, presentations, and pre-sales activities.
  • System & Project Management:

    • Understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
    • Practical experience with visualisation, development, and testing.
