I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who you are
You are a Zapp customer. You understand the Sunday morning breakfast order to the post-gym restock. You have 6+ years of B2C brand marketing experience, ideally in a consumer brand or scaling startup where you owned real outcomes, not just workstreams. You have strong creative judgment - you know what good looks like and you're not afraid to say when something isn't there yet. You are commercially wired. Brand investment has to earn its place and you know how to make the case and measure the return. You move fast, take ownership, and don't wait to be told what to do next. You raise the flag early and find the solution before the problem lands on someone else's desk. You are culturally plugged into London - the neighbourhoods, the brands, and the moments that matter to our discerning, taste-led customers.
