Curious about what’s next?
So are we. Join Compare the Market and help to make financial decision making a breeze for millions.
At Compare the Market, we’re a purpose-driven business powered by tech and AI. We’re building high-performing, results-driven teams with the skills, mindset, and ambition to deliver outcomes at pace. Every role here plays a part in driving our mission forward, and we create an environment where you can bring your authentic self, grow a truly characterful career, and see the direct impact of your work on the lives of our customers.
We’ve carved a meerkat-shaped niche and we’re looking for ambitious, curious thinkers who thrive in a fast-moving, high-impact environment. If you love accountability, embrace challenge, and want to make a real difference, you’ll fit right in.
As our Senior Commercial Finance Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Compare the Market's Technology, Data and AI capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Technology, Data, Product and Delivery, partnering with senior leaders to ensure capability investments are strategically aligned, commercially robust, and deliver measurable value for both our customers and the business.
More than a traditional finance partnering role, you'll help shape where and how we invest. Working across Technology, Data, Product and Delivery, you'll define value before investment decisions are made, support prioritisation across competing initiatives, and ensure delivery activity translates into meaningful customer, commercial and strategic outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Partnering with senior leaders across Technology, Data, Product and Delivery to shape investment decisions that maximise customer, commercial and strategic value.
- Be at the heart of our agentic AI delivery – helping us magnify what’s working and triage what’s not.
- Drive a strong return-on-investment (ROI) focus across Technology and Data, ensuring investment decisions are grounded in measurable business outcomes.
- Help determine where Product, Technology, Data, Delivery and agentic capacity should be focused to maximise business impact and strategic outcomes.
- Help define, validate and measure value upfront, developing robust KPIs, business cases, financial models and benefit-tracking frameworks that balance innovation, efficiency, risk and long-term capability development.
- Support the Lead Time to Value agenda by connecting delivery activity, KPI movement and commercial outcomes, enabling faster realisation of business benefits.
- Partner with Capability Missions to prioritise investments, balancing customer value, strategic objectives, delivery capacity and commercial return.
- Bring commercial challenge to capability investments where value may be indirect or realised over a longer time horizon, including Data Platforms, AI capabilities, measurement platforms and technology transformation initiatives.
- Provide clarity on all returns, e.g. by understanding and evaluating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), identifying opportunities for simplification, optimisation and reinvestment.
- Quantify and communicate the commercial value of data, AI, automation and digital capabilities, translating technical investment into customer and financial outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships across Finance, Technology, Product, Data and Executive Leadership teams, providing commercial insight that supports confident strategic decision making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll have a strong understanding of Technology, Data, Product and Delivery, and enjoy partnering with senior leaders to solve complex commercial challenges. Experience supporting technology portfolios, data products, delivery enablement, portfolio management or large-scale capability investment programmes would be highly advantageous.
You'll naturally think in terms of value creation, prioritisation and outcomes. Comfortable balancing ROI, lead time to value, delivery capacity, strategic priorities and commercial trade-offs, you'll help the business make better investment decisions that create long-term value.
Strong influencing skills are essential, alongside the ability to communicate complex financial and technical information in a simple, engaging way. You'll be equally comfortable working with Finance colleagues as you are engaging with engineers, product managers, data specialists and delivery leaders, translating commercial insight into meaningful action.
