About the Role

In this hybrid role, the Senior Manager, Contracts will lead, develop, and optimise the organisation’s Contracts team, influencing critical commercial outcomes and driving continuous improvement across a vital function.
Location: Plymouth, United Kingdom Hybrid Work Model
Responsibilities

Team Leadership:
- Manage a team of Contracts professionals, aligning efforts with broader business objectives.
- Provide strategic direction to ensure optimal performance within the contracts organisation.

Policy and Process Ownership:
- Oversee development, implementation, and execution of contract policies, procedures, and processes in line with company and customer requirements.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), leading associated production and analysis.

Proposal and Compliance Specialist:
- Conduct front-end assessments of proposals to ensure comprehensiveness and commercial viability.
- Summarise contractual issues, research compliance matters, and interpret regulations to identify risks while formulating tailored recommendations.
- Review terms and conditions for regulatory compatibility and adherence to internal policies, including negotiations and administration.

Stakeholder Engagement and Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Lead or oversee proposal development, with a focus on contractual aspects, and secure necessary management approvals.
- Engage广 with leaders across multiple business units (SBUs) and the General Counsel, coordinating cross-functional collaboration.

Crisis and Conflict Resolution:
- Handle contractual disputes requiring senior leadership input to ensure resolution.
- Support audit functions and address customer inquiries when necessary.

Talent Development:
- Foster enrichment and upskilling initiatives within the contracts team, both business-wide and across the broader company.

Cross-Business Coordination:
- Bridge gaps between SBUs when contracts or proposals impact multiple business units with shared customers.
Requirements
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Proven track record in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams in contracts or commercial roles.
- Experience in a similar leadership capacity in the aerospace, defence, or related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for contractual priorities at senior level, including engagement with:
- Executives (Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Leadership)
- Legal & compliance teams
- Strong commercial awareness, balancing risk, opportunity, and business objectives.
- Exceptionally effective relationship-building, influencing skills, and stakeholder management.
- Industry knowledge of aerospace/defence contracts and procurement frameworks is advantageous.
Certifications & Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant disciplie (e.g., Business, Law, Engineering, Economics) or equivalent experience in a contract management environment.
- Ideal candidates may hold specialised contracts or legal certifications.
