The Reward Employment Tax team at EY in London is seeking a tax-focused Senior Manager to drive business growth in the Yorkshire & North-East England ("YNE") region and strengthen client engagements. This role combines business development, strategic management, and client-facing advisory work to expand EY’s Personal Account Solutions (PAS) services and achieve key expansion goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow Employment Tax business across Yorkshire & North-East England, leading client pursuit efforts by:
- Preparing proposals and delivering presentations to potential and existing clients
- Engaging proactively to capture new business opportunities
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a skills transition into Employment Tax expertise and enabling scalable business growth at EY
- Deliver end-to-end employment tax compliance and advisory services across a diverse range of industries, ensuring high-quality support and guidance
- Maintain technical excellence in core Employment Tax disciplines, sharing industry insights internally and with clients
- Act as a strategic project leader for technically complex and demanding engagements, aligning delivery with high client impact and commercial outcomes
- Build and sustain long-term client confidence, ensuring exceptional service delivery, risk mitigation, and proactive issue resolution
- Secure win-win client relationships by anticipating business needs, piloting new solutions, and converting opportunities into recurring business
- Oversee project structures and programme governance, exceeding client expectations while minimising operational risks

About You
Experience & Technical Knowledge
- Proven experience in Employment Tax within consultancy, legal firms, or global corporations
- Deep expertise across key Employment Tax topics, including:
- Expenses and Benefits (PSAs and P11Ds)
- Employment Status (IR35, contractால்� flagged employment)
- Payroll compliance (PAYE, RTI, apprenticeship levy, audits)
- Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
- Significant payments on termination
- Pension scheme regulations and tax implications
- National Minimum Wage, statutory pay and contributions
- Interaction with HMRC (disclosure, investigations, formal compliance proceedings)
- Employee litigation risks (SAO, CCO)
- Basic understanding of equity compensation plans (utilities, share plans)
Soft Skills & Leadership
- Strong persuasion and networking skills to influence decision-makers across client organisations, driving adoption of large-scale change proposals
- Resilience, adaptability, and business acumen to navigate evolving tax and regulatory landscapes
- Ability to quickly gain credibility with clients while leveraging client-centric commercial instincts
- Proven business development experience, with a track record of identifying and converting opportunities in a competitive environment
- Advanced project management skills, including:
- Managing complex programme deliverables on schedule and budget
- Identifying and mitigating risks proactively
- Balancing growth objectives with client demand
- Strategic and analytical mindset to break down complex tax issues into actionable, practical advice, fostering commercial decision-making
- Commitment to through-life project engagement alongside clients, ensuring alignment on objectives
- Hands-on approach to engagement delivery, producing clear, concise documentation while delivering added process efficiencies
- Desire to develop others, delegating tasks appropriately and fostering a collaborative workspace
- Strong empathy and interpersonal communication, facilitating multi-stakeholder discussions and conflict resolution
