Assistant Director (Senior Manager) – Financial Diligence UKFS
The UK Financial Services Financial Diligence team at EY offers exciting opportunities for a Senior Manager (Assistant Director). You’ll collaborate with a high-performing, interconnected team specialising in high-profile IPOs and transactions, gaining diverse, challenging work with continuous learning and development—alongside a deep sense of achievement.
The Opportunity
We assist corporate and financial clients to realise their strategic ambitions, whether through acquisitions, divestments, or raising finance. Our client base spans:
- UK-led entrepreneurial businesses to global enterprises in financial services
- Financial sectors:
- Insurance
- Banking & Capital Markets
- Asset Management
- Private equity, central banks, and government treasury departments
At the core of our work lies financial due diligence:
- Evaluating a target company’s financials and business projections
- Identifying opportunities, risks, sensitivities, and mitigations
- Reporting insights to clients, their banks, investors, and other stakeholders
Your role will involve working with seasoned financial diligence professionals, honing your skills in a range of sectors and scenarios. Travel may be required, both domestically and internationally, and you’ll frequently collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Role Responsibilities
As Assistant Director, you’ll:
- Understand and prioritise key business drivers, collaborating with clients to co-develop approaches and align on value measurements.
- Provide strategic insights, conclusions, and counsel to drive client value through tailored advice.
- Project manage teams, ensuring smooth execution and strong performance.
- Build and nurture internal links within Transaction Diligence and other EY departments (across UK and internationally) to assemble multi-disciplinary teams.
- Gather, verify, and assess data to formulate well-founded views and recommendations.
- Plan, prepare, and review deliverables in various forms:
- Written reports
- Presentations
- Client discussions

Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing team progress, monitoring workflows, and assigning workloads effectively.
- Sharing expertise with your team and the broader department, fostering continuous professional growth.

- Promoting additional services where relevant, exploiting EY’s firm capabilities.
- Participating in business initiatives, such as:
- Managing key accounts
- Recruitment
- Client service frameworks
- Acting as a trusted business advisor and establishing yourself as a key client contact.
- Taking ownership of your own learning and development, coaching team members, and actively seeking upward feedback.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Essential
- Ability to gather, analyse, and verify information, forming clear and actionable views or conclusions.
- Proven experience in planning, preparing, and reviewing deliverables, including:
- Written reports
- Client presentations
- Conversational discussions
- Commitment to fostering a supportive culture, mentoring junior colleagues.
Must-Have
- Business Development experience
- A leading accounting qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Strong commercial or transaction experience, with financial due diligence in your toolkit.
- Financial services experience, particularly in:
- Insurance
- Banking & Capital Markets
- Asset Management
