About This Opportunity

We're a team that play a meaningful role in cost leadership for Lloyds Banking Group, striving to provide valuable insights, drive cost saving initiatives to deliver the Group’s target cost shape and ensure the effective use of the Group’s resources including our colleague reward package.

We’re a team of 12 colleagues based across Edinburgh, Bristol and London. We’re part of the Group Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team within Central Finance, so we’re at the heart of the Group with a unique opportunity to work across and collaborate with teams across LBG.

The work you do and ideas you develop will inform conversations up to Group Executive Committee (GEC) level. This is a terrific opportunity if you’re bold and ambitious.

Do you have a strong sense of purpose, the diplomatic skills to influence senior people and the relationship skills needed to quickly build rapport to have meaningful conversations?

Do you enjoy leading analysis and insight to optimise costs, build operating models and contribute to wider long-term planning and business decision making?

If yes, then I'd love to hear from you. In return, we'll give you the opportunity to expand your impact, network and operational understanding of all areas across the Group.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing a deep understanding of costs, based on data and analysis and other tools e.g. benchmarking, best practice case studies
  • Using insights, trends and data to identify cost opportunities, and the structural changes needed longer term, for LBG to continue to be a cost leader in Financial Services
  • Proactively building relationships
  • Engaging widely with colleagues to develop a narrative about the ideas, build up evidence and advocacy, to effect change with a cost-out / optimisation benefit
  • Reviewing and challenging 4YOP submissions and cases with a strategic cost-optimisation mentality
  • Identifying and driving cost saving, or unit cost efficiency initiatives, working with stakeholders across the Group
  • First review and challenge of material contracts enroute to Group Cost Management Committee (GCMC)
  • Supporting the running of GCMC meetings and the production of excellent papers enabling effective decision making.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
