Position Description
The Senior Manager, HRIS and Talent Systems position is a full-time, exempt role and a critical part of the Talent Team at Rocketship. Our success as an organization is dependent on helping our team members meet their full potential and creating quality systems of support for our schools and Rocketeers. The Senior Manager will lead our Talent Performance & Analytics team in several functions, including oversight and configuration of our HRIS (Workday), talent data and reporting, and other Talent systems. This systems leader will design, build, and shape our HRIS system (Workday) to align and support Rocketship’s HR and Talent priorities. The Senior Manager will often be the first point of contact for staff and will support our team in ensuring all Rocketship staff have an excellent experience.
Essential Functions
HRIS System Configuration and Development
- Maintain and support the day-to-day operations of the HRIS (Workday), ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Support team leadership in developing, supporting, and maintaining the Workday roadmap by analyzing system capabilities, identifying business needs, and recommending enhancements that align with Rocketship’s goals.
- Lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of system updates and enhancements in the HRIS, translating business requirements and priorities into scalable, efficient, and compliant system solutions.
- Develop presentations and engage with Rocketship senior leadership to gather input and advance our HRIS and Talent systems strategy and implementation.
- Serve as the point of contact for HRIS-related inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and liaising with vendors as needed.
- Generate reports and dashboards to support Talent Team and Rocketship initiatives, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with HR team members and other departments to streamline organizational processes through automation and improved system use.
- Ensure data privacy and security compliance in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Develop and provide training and documentation to HR staff and system users.
- Monitor and analyze trends in HRIS technology to recommend system enhancements.

Customer Service & Support
- Support the oversight and maintenance of other core Talent systems and data.
- Develop processes and procedures to enhance HR service delivery and effectiveness.
- Conduct monthly data audits, produce timely and accurate reports, and analyze HR/Talent data to support Talent Team leadership.
- Operate as the day-to-day first line of contact for Talent inquiries, including fielding and responding to questions in our Jira Ticketing system, and escalating issues when necessary.
- Maintain confidential personnel files and personnel actions.
- Build strong relationships within the Talent team and cross-functionally across schools/departments in order to communicate and align Talent strategy to meet business needs.
- Support special projects on the Talent team and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-7+ years of recent, progressive experience in HRIS-related fields.
- Workday Pro HCM core certification.
- At least 3 years of experience with direct Workday configuration and administration.
- Proven experience leading Workday modules such as HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Performance, Benefits, Integrations, and/or Advanced Reporting.
- Demonstrated success in leading system implementations, roadmap design, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives in Workday.
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, compliance requirements, and data governance best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to design, troubleshoot, and optimize reports and dashboards.
- Strong project management skills with experience coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity.

- Experience working in K-12 education and/or non-profit fields.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000 annually
- Commensurate with qualifications and experience plus excellent benefits including:

Physical Demands
The position involves regular communication with both adults and children, extensive use of hands and fingers for handling objects/tools, and frequent requirements to stand, walk, and sit. Occasional lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders may be necessary. Visual accuracy across close and distant ranges is essential.
