The Opportunity

We are inviting an ambitious, visionary leader to join our Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction Indirect Tax team to help provide excellence in advisory services. Here, you’ll leverage your sector expertise to guide clients with confidence through their indirect tax challenges:
With a focus on legal certainty and commercial impact, our VAT professionals transcend traditional advising—they serve as strategic partners. You will collaborate closely with clients in situations requiring precision and agility, delivering transformative insights that identify critical opportunities and mitigate risks while aligning with clients' operational objectives.
Key Focus Areas
- Ensuring that clients integrate indirect tax implications into the acquisition and disposal strategies for UK real estate assets
- Offering real-time advisory support on indirect tax matters
- Developing and refining cash-flow and cost-focused VAT models
- Identifying, quantifying, and addressing historical tax risks
- Actively incorporating compliance and tax considerations into contractual arrangements
This role requires effective communication, collaborative leadership, and engagement with your EY tax counterparts in the specialised real estate, hospitality, and construction sectors.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Measure success in your people and projects
- Actively engage in team formation and progression, fostering a work environment that thrives on effectiveness and collaboration.
- Safeguard the quality of work and apply daily leadership to team projects.
- Provide guidance through supervision, coaching, and mentorship to enhance staff development.
- Play an active role in weedy initiatives such as training and talent retention of tax professionals.
Project Management & Technical Delivery
Drive strategy with excellence
- Managing complex consulting projects while ensuring both technical accuracy and business-aligned execution.
- Handling indirect tax considerations in large-scale M&A activities, adhering to rigorous standards.
- Developing client relationships, offering exceptional experiences, and delivering top-tier outcomes.
Relationship Management & Business Development

Essential Qualifications/experience
- Demonstrated success in business development and identifying growth opportunities.
- Exceptional time management abilities to maintain composure under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, adept in virtual and in-person formats.
- A deep understanding of VAT gained through experience in either traditional or in-house corporate roles.
- A recognised qualification like ATT/ACA/CA, completing the Tax Inspectors Technical Training Course, or equivalent expertise recognised at the Tax Specialist level.
Preferred Experience
- Proven project management skills, adept at planning, prioritisation, and budgeting in a fast-paced environment.
