Senior Manager – IT Infrastructure
Location: County Hall, Morpeth
Salary: £63,785 to £67,581

Northumberland County Council is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Senior Manager – IT Infrastructure to lead the development, security, resilience and performance of our enterprise technology environment. The Role
You will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Council's IT infrastructure estate. You'll ensure infrastructure services remain secure, resilient, scalable and aligned to business needs while championing continuous improvement and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering the Council's long-term IT infrastructure strategy.
- Leading services across networks, cloud platforms, data centres, end-user computing, resilience and disaster recovery.
- Managing significant infrastructure budgets and technology investments.
- Ensuring compliance with security, governance and regulatory requirements, including GDPR.
- Monitoring service performance and driving operational improvements.
- Managing supplier relationships, contracts and technology partnerships.
- Leading, coaching and developing infrastructure teams to achieve outstanding results.
About You
We're looking for a strategic technology leader with the vision, expertise and influence to deliver large-scale infrastructure services.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience in IT infrastructure leadership and management.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing successful infrastructure strategies.
- Strong expertise across networking, cloud, security, hardware and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
- Experience managing technology risks, resilience and business continuity.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, suppliers and contracts.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A Level 6 qualification in Data, Digital or IT, or equivalent senior professional experience.
Applications will be particularly welcomed from candidates who have:
- Experience in a senior infrastructure leadership role within a large, complex organisation.
- Knowledge of local government or public sector environments.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification.
