Job Opportunity: Senior Manager in Pricing Strategy and Data Analytics

About the Role

Our client, a leading global strategy consultancy, is seeking a Senior Manager with expertise in pricing strategy and data analytics to join its highly focused Pricing team. This team is part of the broader Strategy arm of their organisation, serving sectors including retail, consumer goods, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, transport, and industrial manufacturing. They work with C-level executives to identify, structure, and solve their most critical strategic issues related to deal strategy and growth strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Teams and Projects: Lead teams and manage multi-disciplinary and complex projects under challenging circumstances, delivering substantive, measurable operational improvements in complex businesses.
  • Full Value Chain: Operate across the full value chain of the sale – identify opportunities, shape them with clients, develop proposals, handle commercials, scope projects, and close deals.
  • Client Collaboration: Work alongside client counterparts to scope, plan, mobilize, and manage project progress.
  • Project Accountability: Hold ultimate responsibility for the final output of complex and multi-disciplinary projects, including budgets, risk files, and relevant documentation.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong, trusted advisor relationships with senior management and mid-level executives.
  • Client Engagement: Support or be involved in client pitches, bid management, sales efforts, and initial conversations with prospects to shape ideas and opportunities.
  • Data Analysis: Review and assess large volumes of technical data to distill key strategic insights.
  • Challenge and Insight: Evaluate complex challenges and deliver insightful recommendations that can be practically executed.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumen.
  • Colleague Collaboration: Provide constructive and robust challenge to colleagues to ensure the highest delivery standards.
  • Risk Management: Sound understanding of risk management in a professional services environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, social, and coaching skills; a team player with the right cultural fit and attitude, highly motivated.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Experience in pricing strategy consulting, ideally from either a boutique pricing strategy consulting firm or experience in the pricing department in a corporate environment.
  • Deal Environment: Ideally some experience in the deal environment in pre or post-deal margin improvement work.
  • Client Engagement: Track record of working closely with large corporate clients and/or private equity to deliver high-impact recommendations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Detailed understanding of pricing commercial knowledge across industries to make a real impact with clients and build the necessary networks.
  • Project Management: Considerable experience of leading and managing complex projects.
  • Business Development: Experience of managing or supporting high-value business development activities with senior stakeholders.
  • Consulting Experience: Extensive consulting experience including sales and business development skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to work with other teams within a business to identify the most suitable combination of skills to deliver high impact for clients.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Education: A first-class or 2.1 degree in quantitative/analytical studies such as economics, maths, statistics, engineering, or equivalent experience.
