The Role

Senior Manager, Product Design

📍 Remote – Forever. This role requires being based within +2/-6 UTC.

As the Senior Manager, Product Design, you’ll lead, inspire, and scale Oyster’s global team of Product Designers and UX Researchers. You’ll be the guardian of our design vision, ensuring our complex, global employment workflows feel intuitive, seamless, AI-native, and deeply human-centred.

A key focus will be pioneering next-generation design workflows, leveraging AI to optimize research, prototyping, and build processes. You’ll guide your team toward intuitive UI, Zero-UI, agentic experiences, and multimodal interactions—reimagining how people and AI collaborate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Scaling

    • Scale and lead a high-performing, distributed team of Product Designers and UX Researchers.
    • Foster a culture of rigorous feedback, continuous learning, and psychological safety.
  • Talent Development

    • Define clear career ladders and provide actionable coaching.
    • Elevate execution in generative UX research and high-fidelity interaction design.

  • AI-Augmented Design Ops

    • Drive adoption of emerging AI tools in design workflows (e.g., AI-assisted prototyping, automated UI generation, LLM-driven research synthesis).
    • Exponentially increase team velocity through automated design systems.
  • Agentic & Data-Driven UX

    • Partner with Product and Engineering to embed AI into UX, simplifying complex workflows (tax, payroll, compliance data).
    • Design proactive, multi-modal, and intelligent workflows.
  • System Evolution

    • Modernize Design Ops to scale the global design system with automated, intelligent validation and tokenization.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment

    • Collaborate with GTM, Data, and AI leaders to align UX strategy with growth, data models, and technical feasibility.
  • Guardianship of Trust

    • Establish design principles for responsible AI, transparency, and data privacy—ensuring user trust in high-stakes compliance environments.

Core Requirements

✅ 8+ years of UX or Product Design in complex, data-heavy B2B SaaS or fintech environments (portfolio required). ✅ 4+ years of formal people management, ideally with multi-timezone distributed teams. ✅ AI Literacy – A hands-on, coachable interest in using generative AI tools to transform workflows. ✅ Systems Thinker – Skilled in non-linear journeys, AI-driven interactions, and multi-modal agentic experiences. ✅ [BONUS] Experience in compliance-heavy sectors such as fintech, HRTech, LegalTech. ✅ [BONUS] Expertise in service blueprinting (collapsing human/service Arbeitonders with software design).

🌐 Essential Soft Skills:

  • Reliable internet (or ability to acquire setup).
  • Fluent English (speaking, writing, collaboration).
