We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager – Sanctions – Policy, Regulatory and Framework.
You will report into the Head of Sanctions Policy and Regulatory Development and, as a core member of the team, will take accountability for:
- Managing and developing the sanctions elements of HSBC’s Global Financial Crime Policy;
- Establishing and communicating HSBC’s policy position and risk appetite in response to changes in sanctions laws, regulation, resolutions and regulatory guidance;
- Analysing emerging sanctions laws, regulations and geopolitical events to adequately prepare HSBC for potential future changes; and
- Managing and developing critical sanctions-related training.
In this role you will:
- Support the Head of Sanctions Policy and Regulatory Development in the drafting, consultation, approval and continuous development of the Global Sanctions Policy (the “Policy”) and its supporting procedures and guidance.
- Actively work with the Head of Sanctions Policy and Regulatory Development in evaluating key sanctions regulatory and legislative changes to ensure:
- Proactive engagement and communication with all key stakeholders, including the issuance of Global Advisory Notices where required;
- Assessment of HSBC’s exposure and Policy position; and
- Appropriate actions are undertaken to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of sanctions-related training, including Global Mandatory Training and Sanctions Officer Training.
- Work with relevant contacts in the Business, FC Sanctions and Global Functions (including other areas within the Compliance function) to oversee consistent and effective application and implementation of, and controls to evidence adherence to, relevant sanctions-related global standards, policies and its supporting Advisory Notices, procedures and guidance.
- Proactively review management information to identify trends, emerging risks and themes to drive continuous improvement of sanctions policies, procedures and processes.
- Lead in drafting and continuously developing the sanctions elements of the Global Financial Crime Policy, including its supporting Standards, Appendices and non-mandatory Guidance.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of sanctions regulations, legislation and guidance, in particular US, UK, EU and UN sanctions regulations experience.
- Ability to interpret sanctions regulations and create compliant, practical and efficient policy solutions.
- Proven ability of drafting policies, procedures, guidance and communications.
- Experience of managing and continuously developing policies, in particular influencing the content and shape of the policy.
- Ability to design and deliver training modules, case studies and training assessments in line with sanctions regulations and legislations.
- Excellent communicator with strong inter-personal and influencing skills, with experience of dealing with internal and external stakeholders and regulators.
