Senior Manager, TV and Digital Licensing, UK/Ireland

STUDIOCANAL UK, established in 1999, is known for an innovative approach to theatrical distribution and a strong passion for film and creativity. As a subsidiary of the CANAL+ Group, STUDIOCANAL is a leading European company in co-production, acquisition, distribution, and international sales of feature films. It is the only studio operating simultaneously in France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, distributing more than 50 films a year across Europe. STUDIOCANAL also owns a significant film library with over 5,000 international titles, offering employees exposure to a broad and diverse catalogue. Team members collaborate closely with filmmakers and partners to achieve impactful results in the UK and wider European markets.

Role Overview

Supporting the Head of Film and TV Licensing with sales of the TV and Digital (TV/SVOD/AVOD/FAST/New Business Development) business.

Main Duties

  • Initiate, negotiate, and close licensing deals for rights to broadcasters throughout a variety of business models, including TV (Free, Basic, Pay), streamers via SVOD and hybrid SaVOD and new business models AVOD, FVOD and FAST to maximise revenues to fulfil budgetary targets
  • Manage and maintain senior level relationships with clients and related parties to the highest level
  • Identify new opportunities for sales as a result of new entrants, changing technology and/or delivery systems, etc. and develop sales strategies targeted specifically to address these specialised needs
  • Work closely with other senior stakeholders in the company to analyse and anticipate the financial and strategic ramifications of major deals
  • Develop strong relationships with key executives internally across departments and global group level related to deal strategy and company’s interests
  • Follow market developments and use this in-depth knowledge in commercial endeavours
  • Manage avails and rights management with the TV and Digital Sales Executive and Digital Sales Administrator
  • Strong deal tracking and follow through skills from commercial discussions to closing deals, with active tracking post-deal with internal counterparts in finance, tech servicing, marketing et al.
  • Attend relevant sales markets MIPCOM, London Screenings

  • The successful candidate will be well established within the international distribution, broadcasting and content sales industry
  • This person will have a senior level, high professional reputation and will have had at least 5-8+ years of experience of the UK broadcasting and Digital industry and can demonstrate strong commercial knowledge
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Proven complex deal negotiations, sales and target orientated, self starter, confident in working autonomously
  • Excellent Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
