Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: South West England, M4 corridor
Salary:
- Up to £55k (for an engineer)
- Up to £70k (for a senior engineer) Plus benefits including company bonus and medical insurance
Copello are partnering with a growing technology and engineering organisation delivering complex products into highly regulated industries. Due to continued expansion and increased production activity, they are looking to recruit a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and optimisation of manufacturing operations.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in establishing and improving manufacturing processes within a fast-paced production environment. Working closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Engineering teams, you will drive manufacturing excellence, support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and implement manufacturing processes for complex mechanical, electronic, and integrated assemblies.
- Support the transition of products from development and low-volume manufacture into full-scale production.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct time studies, capacity planning, and process optimisation activities.
- Design, specify, and introduce tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and provide Design for Manufacture (DFM) input.
- Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives.
- Drive improvements in quality, efficiency, throughput, and cost using Lean manufacturing principles.
- Manage engineering changes and ensure accurate process control documentation is maintained.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production readiness and operational success.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential
- Previous experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Production Engineer, or NPI Engineer position.
- Background in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as:
- Aerospace
- Defence
- Automotive
- Medical devices
- Electronics
- Other complex engineering sectors
- Experience in developing and improving manufacturing processes in a production environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent.
- Experience with ERP, MES, CAD, or PLM systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to engage effectively with shop-floor teams and stakeholders.

Desirable
- Experience supporting manufacturing transfers or production ramp-up activities.
- New facility, production line, or cell setup experience.
- Six Sigma qualification.
- Engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, or Degree) or equivalent industry experience.
Security Requirements
Applicants must be:
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
- Hold a British passport.
