Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Prestwick Aerosystems – Manufacturing Systems Engineer
Location & Hours
- Location: Prestwick, Ayrshire
- Hours: 37 hours per week (half-day Fridays)
- Work Location: Site-based (100%)
- Travel Required: Occasional

The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities

Bills of Materials (BoM) Management:
- Oversee accurate BoMs maintained within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.
- Ensure valid Engineering Processes are deployed and documented in manufacturing to meet MRPII requirements.

Engineering Change Control:
- Manage formal Engineering Changes in alignment with customer-approved specifications and internal requirements.
- Coordinate changes for both internal compliance and supply chain responsibilities.

Continuous Improvement:
- Apply Continuous Improvement toolset (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Seven Wastes) to enhance productivity and quality.
- Align improvements with business and customer needs, including internal and external supply chain optimization.

Design-to-Manufacturing Translation:
- Convert Design Data/CAD/CATIA and specifications into clear, concise work instructions for manufacturing, meeting customer and regulatory standards.

Cross-functional Support:
- Assist the Quality & Engineering Team Leader with:
- PDR (Proposal/Design Review) documentation.
- Training, development, and WTMS (Work & Task Management System) responsibilities.
- Assist the Quality & Engineering Team Leader with:
Additional Accountabilities
- Maintain and develop detail packages of work and Conditions of Supply for external suppliers.
- Develop production smoothing methods and Kanban systems for workflow efficiency.
- Support MRB (Material Review Board) processes, providing engineering guidelines for:
- Correction of non-conforming product
- Scrap disposal
- Rework strategies and future prevention measures
- Manage new technical packages, internally and externally, including:
- Financial controls
- Vendor selection/approval
- Vendor monitoring
- Definition of controls and procedures for data integrity

Your Profile
Qualifications & Education
- HNC, degree, or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in Manufacturing Engineering (essential).
- Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Analytics tools:
- Word, PowerPoint, Excel (advanced), and Access.
- Familiarity with engineering systems, standard definitions (e.g., CAD, CATIA), and ** customer-specific controls** (e.g., Boeing, Airbus compliance practices).
- Proficiency in Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, Lean, waste reduction).
- Awareness of drawing and technical specification requirements for major aerospace customers.
