Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Vacancy: Manufacturing Engineering Technician (HNC Level) – Prestwick Aerosystems

Summary

Location: Prestwick, Ayrshire Hours: 37 per week (half-day Fridays) Salary: £42,683.00 (Grade E, Full-Time) Employment Type: Permanent, Permanent Work Location: Site-based (100%) Travel: Occasional

About the Role

Prestwick Aerosystems, one of Ayrshire’s largest engineering employers, manufactures aircraft wing structures for Airbus. As part of the Airbus group, we specialise in delivering high-quality, safe, and reliable aerospace products.

This role focuses on bridging design requirements and manufacturing execution. You’ll take ownership of complex technical packages, leveraging your expertise in system translation to ensure seamless production compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Authorisation & Compliance

  • Ensure engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) are accurate and up-to-date within the ERP system to drive supply chain efficiency.
  • Manage engineering change processes, ensuring alignment with customer specifications and internal procedures whilst maintaining MRP II compliance.
  • Translate CAD/CATIA design data and technical specifications into clear and structured work instructions for manufacturing, aligning with customer requirements and regulatory standards (e.g., Airbus/Boeing).

Kanban & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement production smoothing methodologies and Kanban systems to optimise workflow efficiency.
  • Deploy continuous improvement frameworks (e.g., Lean principles, Seven Wastes assessment) to enhance product quality and process productivity internally and across the supply chain.

Process & Change Management

  • Lead the Verification & Development Review (PDR) process, including supplier contract negotiations, condition control documents (internal/external packages), and risks associated with outsourced production.
  • Support the MRB (Manufacturing Review Board) by providing engineering instructions for rework, scrap control, and defect prevention.
  • Monitor technical package expenditures (new and existing ones), vendor evaluations, financial controls, and deployment strategies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
