Shape the Future of Sustainable Fisheries and Marine Conservation

Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (Eastern IFCA) is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Marine Science Officer (Research) to join our management team and lead the delivery of scientific research that directly influences fisheries management, marine conservation, and environmental policy across the East of England.

Covering the coastlines of Lincolnshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk, Eastern IFCA is one of England’s largest Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities. We work to ensure thriving fisheries, healthy marine ecosystems, and sustainable coastal communities through evidence-led decision making and effective management.

This is a unique opportunity for a marine scientist who wants to see their research translated into real-world outcomes, working at the intersection of science, regulation, conservation, and industry.

About the Role

As Senior Marine Science Officer (Research), you will provide scientific leadership across the Authority, designing and delivering research, survey, and monitoring programmes that support sustainable fisheries and marine conservation objectives. You will play a key role in ensuring that robust scientific evidence informs management decisions throughout the district.

As a member of the management team, you will also contribute to strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the development of the Authority’s scientific capability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
