Senior Marketing Manager – Adult Trade (Campaigns & Brand Strategy) – Bloomsbury
About the Role
Are you a visionary book marketer looking to shape cutting-edge marketing campaigns for some of the world’s biggest authors?
Bloomsbury is seeking a creative, strategic, and highly motivated Senior Marketing Manager to join our Adult Trade Marketing department. In this pivotal role, you will:
- Spearhead marketing and growth strategies across our Trade list, crafting impactful campaigns that connect extraordinary books with global readers.
- Work closely with editors, publicists, sales teams, and authors to develop audience-focused initiatives that:
- Build readership
- Drive sales
- Strengthen Bloomsbury’s reputation for publishing exceptional literature.
- Shape brand strategies and author campaigns, collaborating with internationally renowned voices in fiction and non-fiction.

You’ll work across a celebrated roster, including:

- Marketing for some of the most exciting books in contemporary publishing
Responsibilities
As a key marketing leader, your role will encompass:
Campaign Leadership
- Create, implement, and analyse data-driven campaigns leveraging the full marketing mix (digital, print, media, events, etc.).
- Ensure campaigns cut through the noise and resonate with target audiences worldwide.
Brand & Launch Strategy
- Define and refine title positioning and author branding, aligning with global campaigns.
- Collaborate with high-profile authors and their teams to develop best-selling strategies.
Creative Direction
- Oversee high-impact consumer assets (digital campaigns, outdoor ads, social content, sales materials).
- Partner with designers, creative agencies, and media teams to execution poetic, execution-effective assets.

Strategic Collaboration
- Foster strong relationships with publicity, editorial, and sales teams.
- Contribute to wider publishing strategy discussions (list building, acquisitions, market trends).
Partnerships & Growth
- Develop cross-promotional alliances with influencers, retailers, and brands.
- Align with international teams for cohesive global launch strategies.
Budget Management
- Work with the Head of Marketing to set, track, and optimise budgets for maximum impact.
- Identify cost-effective opportunities while adapting to market shifts.
Team Leadership
- Line manage and mentor junior team members, cultivating an ambitious, collaborative culture.
- Ensure consistent campaign execution across departmental boundaries.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you must combine creative vision with commercial sharpness, including:
Essential Experience
- Strong B2C marketing expertise within publishing, with experience in:
- Launching books by established brands/authors
- Managing debut campaigns
- Cross-promoting best-selling titles across hybrid formats (print/digital/audio)
- Balanced literary fiction and ideas-led non-fiction experience.
- Proven ability to translate creativity into commercial success.
Technical & Creative Strengths
- Exceptional copywriting and visual campaign development skills—with an eye for memorable storytelling.
- Data-driven strategy: Strong analytical, trend-spotting, and outcomes-improvement capabilities.
- Deep understanding of:
- Modern media landscapes (print/digital/social)
- Market패糟 tools (Google Analytics, social platforms, content management).
Interpersonal & Leadership
- Outstanding negotiation and persuasion skills—able to:
- Collaborate with high-profile authors.
- Align with international teams and multi-departmental stakeholders.
- Strong line management experience, with a commitment to mentorship.
- Ability to prioritise and balance competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information
Role Details
- Position: Full-time, permanent.
- Band: £39,000 – £46,300 (depending on experience).
- Location:
- Primary base: 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP
- Hybrid-flexibility: 2 days in office (Mon/Tue), 3 days home-based (or fully office-based if preferred).
