Job Title: Fundraising Manager – Stirling & Falkirk Council


About the Role

The Stirling & Falkirk Council is seeking an ambitious and passionate Fundraising Manager to lead and grow our fundraising activities. This role is primarily based within our Volunteer and Community Centres teams but also works closely with a wide range of council departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering strategic fundraising campaigns that drive financial contributions from individuals, trusts, foundations, local businesses, and high-net-worth donors to support our programmes and services.

This role will provide an exciting opportunity to make a real impact and become a driving force in increasing our community engagement and fundraising success. Working closely with all Council departments, Communications, Marketing, Customer Engagement, Partnerships, as well as partner organisations and stakeholders, this role is perfect for someone with a proven track record in developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Planning:

    • Be responsible for raising income and assets to support the business of the Council in the areas of regeneration, community development, amenity, and parking.
    • Develop and sustain productive partnerships with a wide range of supporter organisations, donors, supporters, and partners.
    • Lead marketing campaigns and partnerships targeting trust, foundations, visitors, and other high-value donors.
    • Maximise the Council’s visibility to prospective donors in the community and support them in securing relationships and making full use of all financial opportunities available.
  • Income Generation:

    • Explore diverse avenues and fundraising streams including: sponsorship and personage fees; corporate, community, or private gifts; grants; competition and funding applications.
    • Build long-term sustainable relationships with various donors and develop long-term donor engagement strategies.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of the fundraising and volunteer activities and evaluate ways of improvement and best practices.
    • Identify potential sponsors and develop, manage, and deliver sponsorship packages.
    • Works with Marketing to create a consistent fundraising brand and messaging strategy.

  • Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Actively collaborate and work closely with a range of internal teams, including Marketing, Comms, Partnerships, and other council departments to enhance the strategy and increase potential impact.
    • Support in coordinating and assisting with planning, marketing, and support for large-scale community and volunteer events.
    • Successful delivery of large-scale events linked to fund-raising strategies and associated activities.
  • Reporting and Partnerships:

    • Contribute to developing reports required by funders, highlighting areas of need and performance.
    • Contribute and support strategy implementation of relevant charity sector legislations and requirements, ensuring compliance and due diligence in all activities.
    • Represent the Council as a fundraising expert at national, regional conferences and forums.
    • Corporate Reports & Audits: Maintain high standards of internal reporting, contributing to projects and partnerships.

Main Duties:

  • Arbitrate internally between sectors of the community agencies and external partners to foster long-term support and relations.
  • Conduct corporate events and work with various sectors of the economy to encourage development partnerships, help secure revenue, acknowledge funding achievements, and raise the profile of the council/service.
  • Liaise with neighbouring councils and external organisations to foster partnerships, network and grow shared community investments to benefit of all partners.
  • Work together with the Business Development team to establish and strengthen event marketing to enhance high-level donor relationships and generate more leads for social events.
  • Strategy creative leadership at council conferences and key events with the goal to identify and drive improved and new opportunities.
  • Support innovative development activities and ensure community engagement is at the core of all development strategies and activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in a fundraising and/or marketing capacity.
  • Have a strong understanding of sector trends and innovations in fundraising activities.
  • Evidence of a real ability to see opportunities and build targeted outreach programmes or solutions to increase responsiveness and financial impact.
  • Excellent Project Management and Stakeholder Management Skills, with the ability to drive collaboration and cultivate strong working relationships.
  • Flexible communications skills, able to tailor discussions and presentations at all levels (senior executives, peers, executives across all council departments, and charity board members).
  • Ability to deliver fresh and innovative ideas in fundraising strategies, targeting individuals, foundations, businesses, trusts, and other organisations.
  • Ability to take point on projects, build and maintain momentum in achieving objectives, and manage faster turnaround projects.
  • Exceptional IT and administrative skills, particularly in handling estate information and donor-generated data.
  • Clear strategic leadership and a proven track record of successfully delivering fundraising goals.
