Senior Mechanical Customer Order Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Customer Order Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of Subsea Wellhead & Casing Solutions across global customer projects.

As a Senior Mechanical Customer Order Engineer, you will serve as a key technical contributor supporting customer orders, project execution, and engineering delivery activities for Subsea Wellhead & Casing Solutions. You will be responsible for translating customer requirements into robust engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards, company processes, and project objectives.
As a Senior Mechanical Customer Order Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Interpreting customer requirements, specifications, and industry standards to develop compliant engineering solutions for Subsea Wellhead & Casing Systems.
- Translating customer engineering specifications into layouts, detailed designs, assemblies, and technical documentation while defining engineering work scopes and execution plans.
- Developing conceptual mechanical designs and layouts in accordance with Baker Hughes Design Process Procedures (DPP) and engineering governance requirements.
- Reviewing and approving Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, component selections, stack-ups, assembly procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
- Leading detailed design activities and supporting design reviews, materials reviews, and environmental assessments using relevant engineering software tools.
- Performing design verification activities including tolerance studies, reliability assessments, design-for-manufacture reviews, engineering calculations, and basic failure analyses.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sourcing, project engineering, product management, quality, and commercial functions to ensure successful project execution.
- Identifying opportunities for product, process, and procedural improvements and developing cost-effective solutions that meet customer and business requirements.
- Supporting risk assessments, reliability verification activities, and engineering reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and promoting engineering best practices across the organization.

Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Have significant experience in mechanical design, customer order engineering, or application engineering within the subsea oil & gas industry.
- Have strong knowledge of Subsea Wellhead & Casing Solutions and/or Subsea Production Systems.
- Demonstrate extensive post-graduate industrial experience in relevant engineering and technical roles within the energy sector.
- Be fully familiar with risk assessment methodologies, reliability verification processes, and engineering review practices.
- Have a strong understanding of applicable industry standards and specifications, including API 5L, API 5CT, NACE MR0175, API 6A, API 17D, and related subsea standards.
- Be proficient in 2D and 3D CAD modelling tools and engineering calculation software.
- Have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
- Be adaptable and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Be fluent in English, with additional languages considered beneficial.
- Show the ability to mentor and guide less experienced engineers while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
