Design Machines. Solve Real Engineering Problems. See Your Work Used Worldwide.
Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys designing machines, mechanisms and moving systems rather than static structures, piping or process equipment?
We are partnering with a globally recognised engineering manufacturer developing specialist industrial equipment used across critical sectors including energy, marine, infrastructure and heavy industry. As the business continues to invest in new product development, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Engineer to play a key role in designing the next generation of innovative industrial machinery.
This is a role for someone who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges and enjoys taking products from concept through design, testing and launch.
Key Tasks:
- Lead engineering projects from concept through to manufacture and product launch.
- Design complex electro-mechanical systems and industrial machinery.
- Develop mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, gear-driven systems, linkages and precision moving components.
- Produce detailed CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks or Inventor.
- Carry out engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance stack-ups and design verification.
- Support prototype development, testing and validation activities.
- Work closely with manufacturing, operations, suppliers and customers to deliver robust, commercially viable solutions.
- Drive product improvement through DFMEA, root cause analysis and structured NPD processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
