Role Overview - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Due to impressive project and programme wins, we are seeking to recruit Mechanical Design Engineers to support our client's engineering operations.
You'll need strong experience in the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, with the ability to support products through the early stages of the product development lifecycle, from concept generation through Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR). Experience within aerospace or other highly regulated engineering environments is considered highly advantageous.
This is an Inside IR35 position that will require on-site working due to the nature of the work.
Role Responsibilities - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies.
- Create accurate technical drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Support product development activities from concept definition through PDR and CDR milestones.
- Apply GD&T and perform tolerance analysis.
- Participate in DFMEA and risk identification activities.
- Present design concepts, progress updates and design maturity at technical review gates.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure designs are manufacturable, compliant and aligned with programme requirements.
- Support prototype build, testing and troubleshooting activities.
- Generate and maintain design documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement activities.

Skills/Experience - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC/HND with equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience in the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Experience supporting programmes through structured design review processes, including PDR and CDR activities.
- Proficiency in producing technical drawings and engineering specifications.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
- Experience with 3D CAD systems (Siemens NX preferred).
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter preferred).
- Experience working within aerospace or other highly regulated engineering environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to customers and multidisciplinary teams.
