Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Metal Fabrication
Location: Near Heanor – Fridays work from home
Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm (Mon to Thurs office based and Fridays work from home)
Holidays: 33 days
Benefits: 6% pension and Westfield Healthcare
Structure of design team: 14 team members
Software/cad package used: Autodesk Inventor
Overview: We now require a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. Working in purpose-built manufacturing facilities for a company that manufacture bespoke metal fabrications with processes such as – sheet metal, welding and fabrication and machining.

Brief overview – duties
- Lead engineering activities on major contracts, overseeing assigned Design Engineers.
- Accountable to the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for the mechanical design and integrity of the company’s products.
- Demonstrate leadership within the mechanical discipline and uphold the highest professional engineering standards.
- Identify and implement design and process improvements across the department and wider business.
- Collaborate with internal departments to achieve business and departmental objectives.
- Act as the primary technical contact for external design resources and queries.
- Mentor, supervise, and support the ongoing development of junior engineers.

The ideal candidate/ Senior Mechanical Design Engineer may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:
- Previous experience working with sheet metal fabricated components
- Educated to degree level in design, engineering or similar – mechanical engineering.
