Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Aerospace & Defence

A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer plays a critical role in the Aerospace and Defence industry, ensuring that all products and processes meet the highest quality standards. At Quest Global, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed design activities to meet Design for Manufacture (DFM) requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and failure mode investigations for non-conformance issues in manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to develop design and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track progress of corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Implement Drawing/Definition Change Requests and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce non-conformance and enhance manufacturing processes.

Required Work Experience

  • Design to Manufacturing (DTM) expertise.
  • Familiarity with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) protocols.
  • Experience in designing for hardness and material selection in high-stress environments (e.g., titanium, steel, aluminium alloys).

Technical Competency Requirements

  • 3D CAD Modelling: Proficient in PTC CREO v7 and TEAMCENTER UNIFIED.
  • 2D Engineering Drawings: Experience in drafting ISO/ASME standards with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and tolerance analysis.
  • Component/Assembly Design: Expertise in mechanical design for complex systems (components, parts, subassemblies).
  • Hand Calculations: Strong background in determining initial component sizing (e.g., O-ring grooves, bolt calculations).
  • Drawing Standards: Skilled in drafting per BS8888 with proficiency in Teamcenter Unified (TCU) for sign-off approvals.
  • Creo Simulate/Studi (desirable but not mandatory): Experience in finite element analysis (FEA) or thermal stress modelling is advantageous.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on quality assurance.
  • Detail-oriented mindset for non-conformance tracking and compliance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience in leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
