About the Role

A degree-qualified Mechanical Design Engineer* is sought to join Martin Audio’s world-class team, contributing to the development of advanced professional audio products. This role is multi-disciplinary, requiring a senior engineer with strong leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning the mechanical design of loudspeaker systems, including product development from conception to completion
  • Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure innovative yet practical solutions

Key Duties

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Designing safety-critical lifting hardware for deployment over audience areas, requiring rigorous validation
  • Applying structural load analysis, hand calculations, and FEA tools to validate and optimise mechanical components
  • Managing geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis to ensure assembly precision and functional specifications
  • Specifying materials and manufacturing processes—including welded fabrication, CNC woodworking, sheet metal design, extrusions, pressed metal, and moulded components (injection/diecast)

Collaboration & Growth:

  • Mentoring and technical guidance for junior team members
  • Supporting drawing checking, inspection/personnel validation, and compliance protocols
  • Visiting concerts or installations to understand product deployment and user needs
  • Representing Martin Audio in supplier/mechanical manufacturer engagements, driving quality and communication

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in mechanical design/product development, demonstrating hands-on expertise
  • Strong problem-solving ability, with solutions rooted in sound engineering principles

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD package (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, Fusion 360), with a preference for PTC Creo Parametric
  • Experience generating technically complete engineering drawings, meeting manufacturing and quality control standards
  • Hands-on experience with PLM systems (for document control and change management)
  • Familiarity with hand calculation and FEA tools for structural analysis, ensuring cost-effective design optimisation

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:45 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM
