About the Role

We are seeking a degree-qualified Mechanical Design Engineer to join our cutting-edge team. As a senior engineer, you will:

  • Own the mechanical design of professional audio products, including safety-critical lifting hardware for audience installations.
  • Collaborate closely within a multi-disciplinary team to drive product development from conception to completion.
  • Demonstrate high technical competency, problem-solving skills, and mentorship abilities.

Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager, your core responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Design loudspeaker systems with welded fabrication, woodworking (CNC), sheet metal, extrusions, pressed metal parts, diecast, and injection moulding.
  • Conduct structural load analysis, hand calculations, and FEA (finite element analysis) to validate and optimise designs.
  • Master geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis to ensure correct assembly fit.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings in accordance with manufacturing and quality control standards.
  • Mentor junior team members and verify drawing accuracy and design compliance.
  • Attend live concerts/installations for product feedback and supplier visits for manufacturing insights.
  • Utilise a PLM system for document control and change management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven mechanical design or product development experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills rooted in engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, Fusion 360), with PTC Creo Parametric (previously Wildfire) being a strong preference.
  • Ability to create fully specified engineering drawings for inspection and manufacturing.
  • Practical experience with geometric tolerancing, tolerance stack analysis, structural analysis (FEA/hand calculations).
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.

  • Monday–Thursday: 08:45 – 17:30
  • Friday: 08:45 – 16:00
