Job Opportunity for Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on innovative, high-performance engineering projects? We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading motorsport engineering team on a fixed-term contract until 2030, supporting the development of cutting-edge mechanical systems and technologies.
About the Role
Working as part of the Mechanical Engineering & Design team, you will take ownership of the full design lifecycle, from concept through to manufacture and commissioning, delivering robust, high-quality mechanical solutions in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for a range of engineering and R&D projects.
- Produce high-quality 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and comprehensive engineering documentation.
- Take ownership of projects throughout the full product lifecycle, including concept generation, design, prototyping, testing, manufacture, and commissioning.
- Modify, maintain, and improve existing mechanical systems, providing fault-finding and engineering support where required.
- Produce technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation to ensure designs are fully documented and controlled.
- Work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
- Manage drawing release processes and engineering documentation using Windchill/PDMLink.
- Support operational teams by providing technical guidance and resolving engineering issues as they arise.
- Occasionally travel to support engineering activities and project delivery when required.

About You
We're looking for an experienced design engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
You'll ideally have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years' experience designing mechanical components using PTC Creo.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience using Windchill/PDMLink for document management and drawing release.
- Experience using AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings to BS8888 standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while working independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with mechanical project management.
- Knowledge of Creo Simulate.
- Experience using KeyShot.
- Practical understanding of ergonomics, shock and vibration, and product aesthetics.
- Experience producing technical reports, specifications, and user documentation.
- An appreciation for sustainable engineering and design practices.
