Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Permanent)

Our client, a leading engineering organisation within the marine sector, is seeking a motivated and capable Mechanical Design Engineer. The successful candidate will bring strong design experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work across a range of engineering applications and industries.

Job Description
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Produce detailed 3D model manufacturing drawings, FEA experience, and hand calculations
- Work on a variety of engineering projects across the marine sector and related industries
- Present technical designs and solutions to customers
- Liaise with external suppliers including metallurgists and R&D teams
- Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements
- Support design reviews, modifications, and continuous improvement activities
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation in line with company standards

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
- Strong 3D CAD modelling experience (SolidWorks preferred, others considered)
- Strong understanding of maths, physics, and engineering principles
- Confident in customer-facing situations and technical presentations
- Experience liaising with suppliers and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and development
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
