Senior Mechanical Engineer – Precision Mechanisms

Oxfordshire | £60,000–£75,000 DOE

Do you enjoy designing mechanisms where accuracy, repeatability and manufacturability are critical?

Would you like to take ownership of complex mechanical products from concept through to production?

Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop precision mechanical systems and small-scale mechanisms. This is a hands-on role offering significant technical ownership, varied engineering challenges and the opportunity to influence products from first principles.

Why This Role is Great

You will:

  • Lead mechanical design work from early concepts and prototypes through to detailed design and manufacture.
  • Develop compact mechanisms involving motion, adjustment, positioning, linkages, bearings, gears or flexures.
  • Apply tolerance analysis, GD&T, calculations and FEA to validate performance.
  • Solve challenges involving materials, friction, wear, joining methods and manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with technical specialists, suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Lead design reviews and support high engineering standards across multiple projects.
  • Help improve designs for reliable, scalable production.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
