Senior Mechanical Engineer – Robotic Prosthetic Subsystem Design (Leeds, Hybrid)
Design a mechanism that restores movement to someone who lost it, from a blank sheet, within a new robotic prosthetic subsystem. Join a pioneering team in Leeds, adapting to a hybrid work model (approx. 2 days on-site), earning up to £60,000, with scope to £65,000 for standout candidates.
Role Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will own the mechanical design of a subsystem end-to-end—from concept to a fully tested, manufacturable product.
Scope of the Role
Core Responsibilities
- Develop load-bearing, moving structures at a small scale under tight packaging constraints.
- Concept to completion: Transform ideas into detailed SolidWorks designs, generating compliance drawings per BS 8888.
- Conduct structural and tolerance analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations.
- Build and deploy custom test fixtures to verify and validate designs.
- Opt for materials and manufacturing methods with a focus on design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Full confidence in SolidWorks or comparable CAD software, with valid UK right to work status.
Salary & Benefits
