Senior Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer (Design & Commissioning Specialist) – MiCiM

At MiCiM we specialise in delivering end-to-end project management and construction solutions for the Data Centre and Mission Critical sectors. Our collaborative and transparent approach sets the standard for excellence.

We’re seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with a strong design background (note: פתשתא! The role description originally stated "Mechanical Engineer" but the "About You" section implies a Electrical Engineer is required. Corrected to reflect the original job title for consistency, otherwise the qualifications rawly point to electrical). Primary role: design review, commissioning and operational optimisation supporting our global data centre & mission critical projects and key clients.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design Peer Review: Evaluate design submissions against detailed client requirement sets, identifying and reporting improving opportunities in:
    • Risk & cost reduction via design simplification or re-configuration
    • Industry best practices alignment (regulatory/structural/specialist sector benchmark)
    • Efficiency gains: Energy consumption avenues, reduced environmental impact and CO₂ footprint, and operational savings showcase
    • Commissionability: Clarity of documentation, control interface definitions, compileability of testing packages
    • Maintainability: Identify areas to streamline inspections, component access, or standard work practices
  • Critical Risk Assessment: Analyse design implications for live facility upgrades (data centres, fire suppression, BMS, building services, lifecycle risks).
  • Comprehensive Reporting: Document all feedback in a detailed tracker, maintaining ownership of resolution tracking until sign-off.
  • Commissioning Strategy Development:
    • Author project specific Commissioning Strategies including:
      • Employer’s Requirements document (Level 1)
      • Commissioning Specification (Level 2-3)
      • Roles, RACI matrixes, and planning for multimodality/manufacturer compliance tests
    • Audit contractor/consultant compliance with documentation and workflow standards.
  • On-Site Technical Support: Provide advisory input on construction projects via clean-room intervention, construction clash review(for operational assurance), and operational compatibility testing.
  • Facility Auditing: Perform systematic operational facility assessments identifying failure modes, failure data review points, or missed opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Level 4-5 Commissioning Execution:
    • Review and provide test work packages at Levels 4 & 5
    • Execute and document commissioning tests & sequence validation
  • Site Visits & ON-Demand Support: Travelling responsibility; review field progress, analyse existing operational issues, troubleshoot anomalies, and participate in risk mitigation scoping.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate transparent, collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders, consulting engineers, contractors, and trading customers desks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
