Senior Mechanical Engineer
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Medical Devices (Cambridge)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join a powerful technology company at the forefront of designing next-generation medical device solutions. Based in Cambridge, this role will involve driving precision mechanical systems for drug delivery products, progressing from early-stage concepts through to high-volume manufacture. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring designs are functional, manufacturable, and fit for purpose.
Core Responsibilities
- Own mechanical designs from concept to production, ensuring optimal scalability.
- Develop precision mechanical components and assemblies, prioritising robustness and performance.
- Produce 3D CAD drawings, schematics, and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Collaborate in prototype builds, testing, and engineering investigations, ensuring validation of designs.
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles to enhance production efficiency.
- Analysis of tolerance stack-ups and evaluating how manufacturing variations impact overall performance.

Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (essential).
- Proven experience in medical device development—this must be present on your CV.
- Advanced 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of injection moulding and high-volume manufacturing processes.
- Strong grasp of precision engineering, mechanisms, and tolerance analysis.
- Problem-solving expertise with the ability to manage multiple technical workstreams and timelines.
