Senior Mechanical Engineer

Industry: Medical Devices

Salary: £65k-£73k (dependent on experience)

Location: Cambridge

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join an innovative technology company developing cutting-edge medical devices. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the development of precision mechanical systems for next-generation drug delivery products, taking designs from early-stage concepts through to high-volume manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of designs from concept through to production
  • Develop precision mechanical components and assemblies
  • Produce 3D CAD drawings and supporting documentation
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and engineering investigations
  • Apply DFM and DFA principles to optimise designs for scalable production
  • Assess tolerance stack-ups and the impact of manufacturing variation on performance

Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Previous experience developing medical devices is a must
  • Strong 3D CAD skills
  • Knowledge of injection moulding and high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of precision mechanisms and tolerance analysis
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple technical workstreams
