Senior Mechanical Engineer
Join our building services team and take a leading role in delivering innovative mechanical engineering solutions from concept through to completion.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you will support and enhance project delivery across a diverse portfolio spanning sectors such as life sciences, defence, education, commercial and renewable energy. You will lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services, managing multiple projects or work packages with minimal supervision. The role involves full lifecycle design responsibility, including calculations, specifications, drawings, site inspections and construction-stage duties, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and maintaining strong client relationships.
Your Impact in this position
You will play a key role in delivering technically robust, sustainable and compliant building services solutions. Your expertise will ensure projects meet client expectations, programme requirements and industry standards. By leading design activities and mentoring junior engineers, you will contribute to both project success and the ongoing development of team capability.
Core Capabilities Technical Expertise Strong grounding in mechanical building services design across multiple sectors In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, legislation and public health services design Design & Digital Proficiency Experience using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES and NBS Ability to produce and review detailed calculations, drawings and specifications Project Delivery & Leadership Proven ability to lead projects or packages, managing workload, timelines and deliverables Experience mentoring junior engineers and promoting technical excellence Sustainability & Innovation Ability to develop energy-efficient, sustainable design solutions Working knowledge of renewable technologies and low-carbon design principles Communication & Collaboration Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients and multidisciplinary teams Confident in report writing, technical communication and stakeholder coordination Skills, Qualifications & Experience Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Chartered status, or working towards it, is desirable. Proven experience delivering mechanical design within a consultancy environment is essential. Eligibility for MOD SC clearance is required.

Working Environment
This role is preferably based in Manchester with flexible hybrid working available, working in the office alongside home working. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and undertake site visits as required, with flexibility to support both project delivery and personal commitments.
