Senior Mechanical Engineer – Robotics
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in robotics, automation, or mechatronic product development? Do you live in the Cambridge area, or would you welcome the opportunity to relocate and work for one of the UK's most exciting agri-tech robotics companies?
If so, our client,, is actively hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team in Cambridge, developing cutting-edge autonomous fruit harvesting robots that are transforming the future of agriculture.
Responsibilities
The Senior Mechanical Engineer, based in Cambridge, will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing next-generation autonomous robotic harvesting platforms
- Creating production-standard 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Designing robotic mechanisms, actuators, end-effectors, and integrated mechatronic systems
- Managing cross-functional communication between mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, vision and machine learning teams
- Producing and maintaining design packs and manufacturing packs
- Conducting tolerance analysis, GD&T and FEA to verify and validate designs

Requirements
To apply for this Senior Mechanical Engineer role, you should have:
- Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience designing robotics, automation equipment, moving machinery or mechatronic products
- Strong SolidWorks experience, including production-standard drawings and assemblies
- Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T and design for manufacture principles
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, casting, CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication
- Experience using FEA tools to verify and optimise designs
