Position Summary
As part of the Communications team, the Senior Media Manager is responsible for leading ShareAction’s media function and delivering high-impact media strategies. This role is critical to strengthening our voice as a leading authority on responsible investment, supporting our influencing and campaigning work.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
You will design and execute media strategies that amplify ShareAction’s campaigns, research, and policy work, ensuring our messaging reaches and resonates with the right audiences.
A Typical Week
- Strategic media planning: Develop and deliver media strategies to support campaigns and organisational priorities.
- Cross-team collaboration: Provide strategic communications advice to colleagues across teams.
- Media relations: Build strong relationships with journalists, producers, and commentators.
- Press office management: Oversee press enquiries, identify media opportunities, and coordinate responses.
- Content creation: Develop high-quality materials such as press releases, op-eds, and media briefings.
- Coverage analysis: Monitor media output and refine strategies based on insights.
Key Duties
- Work closely with policy and campaign teams to maximise impact.
- Lead and mentor junior team members, ensuring high standards and effective workflows.
- Advise on reputation management and support crisis communications as needed.
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities to strengthen ShareAction’s media presence.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
We are seeking an experienced media professional who excels in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. Ideal candidates will have:
- Significant experience in a senior press office role or as a journalist.
- A proven track record of developing and executing effective media strategies.
- Experience in reputation and issues management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex issues into engaging content.
- Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Experience leading and developing teams with a collaborative approach.
- Confidence in journalist and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to use data and analytics to refine strategies and enhance outcomes.
Desirable Additional Skills
- Familiarity with campaigning or advocacy communications.
- Understanding of social, environmental, or financial issues.
- Experience in policy or EU-related media engagement.

Hybrid Working Policy
ShareAction offers a formal hybrid working policy. While this role involves regular engagement with London-based stakeholders, your attendance at the office or in-person meetings will be approximately six times per month.

Additional Compensation
- Salary: £50,641 per annum + 8% pension contribution.
