Senior Medical Writer
Location: UK | Working Arrangement: Hybrid (London or Remote) | Compensation: Competitive Salary + Benefits
A growing, science-led medical communications agency is seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join its expanding Medical & Scientific team.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Writer seeking to advance their career, combining high-quality scientific writing with increased client exposure, strategic involvement, and mentoring opportunities. You'll work across diverse pharmaceutical and biotech clients, contributing to impactful scientific communications while collaborating closely with clients, account teams, and scientific colleagues.
Key aspects of this role include:
- Developing scientifically rigorous, engaging content across various programmes and therapy areas.
- Strategic involvement in scientific discussions and discussions with clients.
- Opportunities to mentor junior team members while continuing to develop your own expertise.
The agency offers excellent exposure to Medical Affairs programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver impactful scientific and medical communications materials, including:
- Slide decks
- Advisory boards
- Symposia materials
- Medical education programmes
- Digital assets
- Training materials

Core duties include:
- Ensuring all outputs are scientifically accurate, compliant, and aligned with client objectives.
- Interpreting and communicating complex scientific data for healthcare professionals.
- Building strong client and external expert relationships, contributing to scientific discussions and providing recommendations.
- Supporting the scientific review and development of content produced by junior team members.
- Mentoring and coaching Associate and Medical Writers in their professional development.
- Collaborating closely with account management, creative, and digital teams to deliver projects on-time and within budget.
- Contributing to strategic planning and scientific communication programmes.
- Supporting business development activities, including proposal and pitch materials where required.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or a related scientific discipline (higher degree advantageous).
- Previous experience working in a medical communications agency.
- Strong scientific writing and editorial skills across diverse deliverables.
- Experience supporting Medical Affairs programmes.
- Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex scientific data to stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail with an understanding of industry compliance requirements.
- Experience reviewing work and providing constructive feedback to team members.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
