The Role
Do you have a curious mind, creative flair, commercial nous, and eye for detail – and experience delivering events that engage, entertain and inspire?
The Membership team is looking for a Senior Membership Events Officer to be part of the team that plans and delivers a range of unique experiences for Members and the wider V&A audience including talks, film screenings, performances and more. This is a fixed term maternity cover position, contributing to key retention and recruitment aims of the Membership department, critical to supporting the overall mission of the V&A.
The aim of the Senior Membership Events Officer is to plan and deliver a programme of Members-only events, contributing to helping the membership events programme meet the KPIs as outlined by the membership strategy and budget.
The goals of the membership events programme are:
- Create a one-of-a-kind events program that members can only enjoy at the V&A
- Offer a unique experience to V&A Members, contributing to acquisition, retention and loyalty
- Complement the special exhibition programme and the new work the V&A does
- Support the V&A through income raised by membership events
The Senior Membership Events Officer will work across the Membership Events programme, with primary responsibility for the programming and delivery of unique Members-only events both on site and online. This Includes working with the Membership Events Manager to programme and deliver the annual festive open evening, as well as exhibition-related Members’ Only online curator talks, preview days, and other out-of-hours access to exhibitions as required. The Senior Officer also contributes to the running of evening talks, including deputising for the Membership Events Manager as needed. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and detail-oriented individual to shape the programme, at a time of museum-wide focus on growth in the Membership base, both across the UK and internationally, as the museum expands its number of venues and diversifies its audiences.

Who are we looking for?
- Exceptional Organisational Precision Meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and maintain calm under pressure.
- Creative Event Delivery Proven experience curating a diverse programme of engaging events with a creative approach to event ideas, preferably within a membership scheme.
- Confident Communication Excellent written and verbal communication; confidence addressing audiences, with the ability to adapt your communication style for different groups.
- Collaborative and Supportive Team Contributor Flexible, reliable, and conscientious team player with experience working cooperatively across teams.
- Proactive, Independent Problem-Solver Strong initiative, ability to take responsibility, work independently without supervision, and deliver tasks efficiently, including use of relevant IT systems.
- An understanding of V&A Members and Membership programme, and interest in supporting this highly engaged audience.
