Role Overview:

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the electrical and technical designs for a range of projects, with a particular emphasis on retail developments. You will collaborate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that our designs meet industry standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and layouts, including short‑circuit calculations and protection coordination
  • Lighting design implementation, including technical parameter calculations, emergency lighting (BS 5266), and control strategies
  • Integration of electrical systems with ELV, fire alarms (BS 5839), CCTV, access control, data networks, and EV charging infrastructure
  • Guiding the technical growth and implementation of UK standards and best practices within the Group for electrical systems
  • Comprehensive design of HV/LV distribution systems, including earthing, lightning protection, and load assessments, and development of detailed electrical drawings, including power distribution, emergency lighting (BS 5266), and fire alarm systems
  • Collaborating with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations
  • Reviewing and approving technical documentation
  • Providing technical support during construction and commissioning phases
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to their professional development
  • Supporting site inspections, commissioning activities, and technical queries during the construction phase
  • Overseeing and reviewing the implementation of electrical systems design carried out by other branches of the Group

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Expertise in designing electrical building services for residential, commercial, office, hospitality, and public sectors across RIBA Stages 2–5
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BEng/MEng) in Electrical Engineering or a related building services discipline
  • Essential: Minimum 8 years of experience in an integrated engineering consultancy or specialist electrical engineering firm
  • Proven experience in producing NBS specifications, detailed schedules, cost estimates, and comprehensive technical reports
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations (Part P, L, F) and the latest IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Practical experience in applying BREEAM standards and Net Zero Carbon frameworks to electrical design
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is not required; however, candidates who hold it or are actively working towards it with a recognized body (IET or CIBSE) are welcome
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Italian is considered a valuable plus for seamless coordination with the Global HQ in Italy

Software Requirements:

  • Mastery of Autodesk Revit MEP for 3D modelling and multidisciplinary coordination with architects and structural engineers
  • AutoCAD: proficient in 2D drafting and coordination
  • DIALux evo: experienced in lighting design and calculations
  • BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud: skilled in cloud‑based model coordination and document management
  • Electrical calculation tools (optional but advantageous): familiarity with electrical design software such as Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, or similar
