Senior Microsoft 365 Solutions Engineer

About the Role
Based in our Oxford office, you will join the Engineering Team within Internal Technology. The team is responsible for designing, delivering, continually improving, and providing escalation support for the core services that enable Aurora’s staff to leverage the best processes, tools, and technology for high-performance work.
Reporting into the Architecture and Engineering function, this proactive senior engineer role demands deep expertise in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including:
- Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
- Intune
- Exchange Online
- OneDrive
- SharePoint
- Teams
- Underlying identity and network services
The successful candidate must: ✔ Own projects and operational improvements with precision, contributing to documentation, governance, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in alignment with support for a robust environment. ✔ Work independently and collaboratively across sprints while identifying opportunities for enhancements in Aurora’s tech stack. ✔ Shape longer-term technology delivery via mature experience that elevates team capabilities and supports Aurora’s international growth and data-driven evolution.

1. Engineering Excellence
- Adopt a relentless, detail-focused engineering mindset to streamline Internal Technology processes.
- Lead the team by sharing technical knowledge, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering professional and operational growth across the function.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement in how technology is delivered.
2. Engineering Microsoft 365 Stack
- Design, build, implement, and optimize cutting-edge solutions across:
- Exchange Online
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive
- Microsoft 365 Teams
- Entra ID
- Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager
- Stay ahead of Microsoft’s evolving tech trends, yielding strategic guidance for integrating next-gen solutions such as Cloud App Security, Power Automation, Azure Purview, or Copilot Studio.

3. Efficiency & Employee Experience
- Work with cross-functional teams to refine Microsoft technology configurations in line with Aurora’s business objectives.
- Enhance employee productivity and collaboration by ensuring seamless adoption of tools such as Teams, SharePoint, and Intune.
4. Project Delivery
- Lead project applications from design to rollout, managing stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, risk mitigation, and implementation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure technical and business alignment.
5. System Ownership
- Assume full responsibility for specific Microsoft ecosystems (e.g., identity solutions, mdistance-hop tech, network domain policies) to maintain high availability, troubleshoot challenges, and execute initiatives that improve functionality.
6. Governance & Documentation
- Develop, maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles. Commit to elevating standards through meticulous upkeep.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 suite, including:
- Exchange Online
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive
- Teams
- Entra ID
- Windows-based environments
- Proficiency with enterprise device management (Intune) and identity governance (for example, Transport Layer Security policies).
- Demonstrable project leadership: capable of delivering ambitious, technical projects, minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell) and API modules (for example, Microsoft Graph) for automation and analytics.
- Agility in defining project backlogs, prioritizing work efficiently, and executing tasks independently while achieving deadlines.
- Experience creating documentation such as SOPs, runbooks, and technical troubleshooting guides.
- Communication and collaboration skills: bridging gaps between technical expertise and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with other Microsoft stacks, such as:
- Microsoft Defender (platform-specific modules)
- Purview (Information Governance)
- Power Platform / Copilot Studio
- Azure DevOps, Terraform/OpenTofu (Infrastructure as Code)
- Azure hybrid network connectivity (VPNs, VPNCt, ExpressRoute)

Broad networking expertise, including:
- DNS & DHCP
- TCP/IP fundamentals
- Firewall configurations
- Wi-Fi management

Certifications from Microsoft (e.g., SC-300, SC-400, MS-700) supporting deep expertise.
