Cloud Imperium is looking for an enthusiastic and technically minded Senior Mission Designer to work on its ever-expanding Persistent Universe at its UK studio located in the heart of Manchester.
About the role:
You would be a part of The Mission Design Team (MDT) made up of designers, a producer and embedded QAs, and is responsible for many aspects of the game, such as creation of the first implementation of new missions, upkeep of existing missions, Creation of Events for players.
Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We're currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. What You'll Do
- Take ownership of a high-level design and work on solidifying it before pitching it to your lead.
- Own the end-to-end design, document, delivery of missions, mechanics and systems from taking them from concept through to completion.
- Work in various in-house tools including StarScript, a visual scripting editor, to create logic for missions, systems and events.
- Work closely with other departments to suggest improvements to features your mission utilizes.
- Take ownership of content for regular in-game events and demos, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Provide guidance and feedback to mid-level and junior designers, helping to raise the standard of work across the team.
- Gain a fundamental understanding of the game and its direction so you can help steer Peers in the correct direction.

What are we looking for:
- Previous AAA experience with clear ownership of missions or features shipped to players.
- Strong understanding of visual scripting or coding fundamentals.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines, with confidence leading on your own areas of work.
- A proactive approach to supporting and developing less experienced designers.
- Strong relationship-building skills across departments.
- The ability to manage your workload effectively and meet frequent deadlines without close supervision.
