Senior Model Validation Analyst
Senior Model Validation Analyst Skipton Building Society – Permanent, Full-Time (35 hrs/week, blended working)
Job Introduction Skipton Building Society has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Senior Model Validation Analyst. You will be validating the models and algorithms that support critical business decisions. Your role requires you to provide independent assurance on strategic models, delivering clear insights and challenge to stakeholders while combining technical expertise, commercial awareness, and strong influencing skills. Your work will drive effective decision-making and robust governance.
What You’ll Do
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conduct independent validation of the Society’s key models using quantitative and qualitative testing to assess performance, design, deployment, and monitoring.
- Support the tracking and management of Model Risk across Skipton.
- Write clear validation reports and stakeholder communications, including presentations to senior stakeholders at the Model Risk Committee.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the business by being recognised as a highly credible individual who can communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Support model-related internal and external audits.
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for:
- Knowledge of model validation techniques, including:
- Desktop reviews
- Statistical testing
- Challenge-based model development

An ability to critically analyse and validate complex statistical models across a range of business areas, using a balance of business/regulatory knowledge and statistical rigour.

Awareness of model-related regulation, such as SS1/23.

A degree in a mathematical or analytical field.

Experience operating in assurance capacities and working with other providers (e.g. Internal and External Audit).

Strong data science skills, covering the analytical lifecycle.

Technical expertise in at least one of:
- Python
- Excel
- SAS
- SQL (with an aptitude for learning additional analytical tools).
Hours & Working Arrangement
- Permanent, full-time role (35 hours per week).
- Blended working: Three days in office (Skipton HQ) and two days remote.
