Senior Model Validation Analyst
Senior Model Validation Analyst • Permanent • Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Role Introduction
Skipton has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Senior Model Validation Analyst. You will be validating the models and algorithms that support critical business decisions. You'll provide independent assurance on strategic models, delivering clear insights and challenge to stakeholders while combining technical expertise, commercial awareness, and strong influencing skills to drive effective decision-making and governance.
Core Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting independent validation of the Society’s key models, using both quantitative and qualitative testing to assess performance, design, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Supporting and overseeing the tracking and management of Model Risk across Skipton.
- Writing clear validation reports and stakeholder communications, including presenting findings to senior stakeholders at the Model Risk Committee.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships across the business by being recognised as a highly credible individual who can translate complex concepts into straightforward, understandable formats.
- Supporting model-related internal and external audits.
Key Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive knowledge of model validation techniques, including desktop reviews, statistical testing, and challenger modelling.
- Ability to critically analyse and validate complex statistical models across diverse business areas, combining business and regulatory knowledge with statistical rigour.
- Familiarity with model-related regulatory requirements (e.g., SS1/23).
- Degree educated in a mathematical or analytical field.

Professional Experience
- Experience in an assurance capacity, including collaboration with Internal and External Audit.
- Strong data-science skills, encompassing the entire analytics lifecycle.
Technical Proficiency
- Strong command of at least one of: Python, Excel, SAS, SQL.
- Continuing interest and aptitude for learning additional analytical tools.
Working Arrangements
- Permanent full-time role: 35 hours per week.
- Blended working: Mix of office presence (3 days per week in Skipton) + flexible remote work (2 days per week from home).
