Senior Motion Designer / Head of Motion Graphics

Job Ref: 41111
Job Type: Permanent
Job Hours: Full time
Location: London / Hybrid

The speed read: This small but mighty design agency produces thoughtful graphic and motion design for large B2B clients and is looking for a really solid motion generalist to lead and build a motion desk.

The facts: You may be a senior designer ready for a step up, or already a DD. Either way, you want to learn or bring extra skills such as managing freelance resources, seeing projects more in the round, and increasing the agency’s use of new and emerging tech to get the best results for your clients. They are blessed with a large trusting client in the fintech space that lets them iterate and explore what is possible, test and develop. This won’t be the only client you will work on, but it's a significant one. We think it will take about 6 months to get your head around their main client’s suite of products and then you will be like a duck in water. You will be supported as you learn. It’s all kinds of motion work including animation, explainer videos, campaigns, infographics, etc.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll be:

  • Working daily with thoughtful and intelligent graphic designers that want your input and steer. You can pick up the thread of an idea and develop it.
  • Comfortable with a light touch brief and good at working iteratively. You like to ask questions and bring cleverness and insight to the gaps. This isn’t bad or lazy briefing, it’s a client that trusts the agency on what it already knows about them and will push and challenge them to do something different and interesting that’s right for the project.
  • Naturally curious and interested in how things work. Most projects demand your thinking and input on how best to tell the story. You will need to get your head around technical B2B propositions and turn them into something smart and engaging.
  • Interested in emerging tech and how this can build out the agency’s offer.
  • Happy being hands-on some of the time and directing freelancers the rest of it.
  • Happy to be in a studio 2 or 3 days a week (very central location).
  • Sometimes working with live footage to create video animations, so also art directing the process to make sure everything is captured in shoot.
  • Storyboarding to a decent standard.
  • Editing and grading footage to a good standard.
  • Open to leading and steering the agency’s own marketing efforts.

You’ll have:

  • AfterEffects 2d and 3d, Cinema 4d, and you can bring others. The agency will build you the tech stack you need. Cinema 4d is a must-have and some AE is preferable. If you’ve done character rigging, that would give you an advantage.
  • A showreel to share on application, that shows an interesting range of projects.
  • B2B experience. But if you have interesting B2C stories to tell that have good content in, then we are open to that too.
  • Possibly worked in the tech or fintech space client side, producing lots of different motion content and want to move agency side or worked agency side on projects and now want to develop a more rounded skill set.
  • The chance to work with a really lovely small team and feel a part of something worthwhile. Great grown-up work/life balance and a nice studio.
