The Role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Senior Neonatal Staff Nurse/Midwife and play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to babies and their families throughout their neonatal journey. Working within one of Scotland’s largest and most innovative NHS Boards, you will be part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team committed to family-centred care, clinical excellence and continuous improvement. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, support colleagues and influence the delivery of high-quality neonatal services. You will provide expert nursing or midwifery care, contribute to service development and help ensure every family receives compassionate, safe and personalised care. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Location: Princess Royal Maternity
  • Type: Permanent, full-time
  • Working Pattern: Rotational days & night shifts across 7 days, 11.5 hour days

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to neonates requiring intensive, high dependency, and special care
  • Monitor and assess babies’ clinical condition, responding promptly to changes and escalating as appropriate
  • Administer medications and treatments in line with local and national protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning
  • Support parents and families, providing education and emotional support
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control measures and health and safety policies

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job

  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) with current NMC registration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • A relevant Neonatal qualification
  • Compassionate and reliable individual with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
