Job Description:
Data is Energy
EDF Trading is a data business. Trading is transitioning into a data driven business. High quality data and the agility of the analysis are becoming the differentiator. EDF Trading has a leading footprint in the European energy markets and wants to monetise and optimise data as an asset.
The European energy space is complex and has a huge appetite for data. Power production from renewables in response to weather, capacity limitations across borders, storage optimisation modelling... these are just some of the complex data opportunities we trade on every day.
We’re looking for talented people who share our passion for data to join our team and seize these opportunities with us.
Team / department
The Data team is responsible for providing business solutions aimed at extracting value from large amounts of data. It covers a broad range of activities such as collecting market data and building related analysis tools, processing of real-time data streams, data governance and machine learning. The role will focus predominantly on the data consumption and publishing area.
Main responsibilities
- Work as a senior member of the development team to develop & maintain the data-orientated systems
- Be responsible for end-to-end delivery of functionality from analysis and solution design through to implementation and release
- Participate in agile processes and ceremonies as part of ongoing delivery
- Mentor and review code of other developers
- Contribute to the architectural direction of the system
- Influence the overall direction of the platform
- Liaise with end users to refine requirements
- Collaborate with the data support team to ensure the data platform is properly monitored and any incident resolved promptly

Required Skills and Experience
- Expert level .net knowledge (C#, ASP.Net) with few years of commercial.net development experience
- App containerization and Docker
- A relational database technology (SQL Server, preferred, or Postgres, Oracle)
- Good development practices such as test automation, IOC, SOLID principles, Observability logging and monitoring with Grafana or similar.
- Angular for frontend web development
- Experience working with Data-heavy application (low latency streaming or high volume ingestion)
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Automated continuous integration pipelines including automated deployment
- Agile development (Scrum preferred)
- Azure Dev-Ops (Team Foundation Server) for continuous integration, automated test execution and source code management (TFS GIT)
- Non relational database technologies (such as Clickhouse or MongoDB)
- Kubernetes
- IaC with Terraform
- Kafka and Azure Service Bus
Person Specification
- Hands-on approach, flexible and positive attitude
- Ability to understand complex problems quickly
- Passion for building quality systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to fully participate in a multi-faceted team environment
Hours of work:
8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday
