Position Overview
McLarens seeks a highly experienced Senior Network Administrator with a cloud-first mindset, specialising in Microsoft Azure and Palo Alto Networks security solutions.
This key role involves:
- Designing, implementing, and managing Azure-based network infrastructure (e.g., VNets, Azure Firewall, Application Gateways).
- Leading cloud migration/transition projects from on-premises to cloud environments, supporting our global, cloud-first strategy.
- Mastery of Palo Alto’s extended security suite, including:
- Panorama (centralised management)
- Prisma Access (secure cloud access)
- GlobalProtect (secure remote access)
- Cortex Data Lake (threat analytics)
- DLP (Data Loss Prevention) policies

Candidates must have: ✔ 10+ years in enterprise network administration ✔ 3+ years of hands-on Palo Alto firewall expertise
Key Responsibilities
Azure & Cloud Networking
- Architect, deploy, and manage Azure networking solutions (e.g., VNets, Azure Firewalls, NSGs, ExpressRoute).
- Lead cloud migration strategies, optimising connectivity and resilient failover mechanisms.
- Align networking with business services through collaboration with cloud, app, and infrastructure teams.
Security & Compliance
- Deploy Zero Trust architectures, micro-segmentation, and secure access controls.
- Configure GlobalProtect for secure remote access and manage DLP policies via Cortex Data Lake.
- Monitor network health, threat events, and performance using Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, or third-party tools.
Global Connectivity & Support
- Manage site-to-site VPNs, ExpressRoute, and ISP SLAs across global locations.
- Support branch/remote site networks and hybrid cloud deployments.
Documentation & Best Practices
- Maintain detailed network inventories and deployment documentation.
- Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) planning in cloud-first environments.

Essential Experience
- Cloud Networking: Advanced Azure expertise (preferred) with deep knowledge of VNets, Firewalls, App Gateways, and Load Balancers.
- Cloud Migration: Hands-on experience leading legacy network transitions to cloud (hybrid/SAAS/IaaS) environments.
- Palo Alto Ecosystem: Deep expertise in:
- Firewall configuration
- Panorama central management
- Prisma Access and GlobalProtect VPNs
- Cortex Data Lake and DLP
- Layer 7 security (App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID policies)
- WAF & Zero Trust: Deployed Web Application Firewalls (e.g., CloudFlare) and implemented Zero Trust frameworks.
- Site Connectivity: Managed distributed networks, site-to-site VPNs, and branch office connectivity.
- Monitoring: Skilled in Azure-native monitoring (Log Analytics, Network Watcher) or third-party alerts.
- Meraki: Familiarity with Meraki switches, APs, or firewalls (a plus).
Technical Certifications
Required
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
- Azure Network Engineer Associate (or equivalent)
Bonus
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (entry, advanced, or enterprise cloud certifications)
