Senior Network Engineer

| UK based, ideally within reach of Gloucester but have other offices | Hybrid

We are supporting a leading technology business with an urgent hire for an experienced Senior Network Engineer.

This is a senior, hands-on position combining complex network engineering with technical leadership and line management responsibility. You will act as an escalation point for critical incidents while supporting, mentoring, and developing engineers across the wider team.

The role will involve:

  • Providing L4 support across complex network environments
  • Leading major incident resolution and root cause analysis
  • Managing and developing network engineers
  • Defining technical standards, security baselines, and golden configurations
  • Supporting network architecture and continuous improvement
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders and customers
  • Participating in an on-call rota

We are looking for experience across:

  • Cisco, Fortinet, and F5 technologies
  • BGP, OSPF, firewalls, segmentation, NAT, and high availability
  • WAN, LAN, WLAN, SD WAN, VPN, and SASE
  • Network operations within complex or regulated environments
  • Line management, mentoring, and engineer development
  • Automation using Python, Terraform, or Ansible
  • Major incidents, escalation management, and problem resolution

The salary is £76,500, with flexibility up to approximately £82,000 for the right person.

The location is open across the UK, although someone within reasonable reach of Gloucester would be ideal. Availability to start quickly would be welcomed, but finding the right long-term hire remains the priority.
